Updated advice regarding PPE to be worn when managing pregnant women with known or suspected COVID-19
11 April 2020
This updated guidance is for obstetric anaesthetists to help them decide which personal protective equipment (PPE) is most appropriate when managing women with known or suspected COVID-19 in a variety of circumstances.
We have covered multiple scenarios from provision of labour analgesia to caesarean section under general anaesthesia. We have also attempted to give some simple explanations of how to proceed in each case.
The advice is based on national guidance and is accurate at the time of writing, but please be aware that it may change as the situation changes.
We welcome feedback to this address.
