Staff wellbeing resources

7 September 2020

It is vital that healthcare workers look after their own wellbeing in these extraordinary times and that they are provided with the support they need.

The Association of Anaesthetists and the Intensive Care Society have a number of resources for wellbeing and support, which are available here and here.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists have a dedicated COVID19 wellbeing and support webpage that includes resources for organisations on how best to support their staff as well as for individuals.

Supported by Skills For Care, MindEd have also drawn together the best advice and tips from a large panel of international experts to guide everyone on the front line health and care services.

A range of posters have been developed by Dr Julie Highfield, Clinical Psychologist, for use in departments.

Author: Dr Julie Highfield, Clinical Psychologist

This poster series aims to improve our understanding of psychological wellbeing at work, the impact reduced wellbeing can have and what we can do in response, and includes tips for dealing with extraordinary situations such as COVID-19 and everyday working in critical care.

It prompts the reader(s) to consider:

  • tips for approaching self-care

  • how to manage personal wellbeing

  • what we can do to improve our workplace

  • when to ask for help.

How to use these posters

Ideally the posters should not be used in isolation, but alongside other initiatives.

You could set up a staff wellbeing board, where all the posters are available together for staff to view, or you could place copies of the posters around the unit in staff areas, where staff can read them freely.
